Call For Entries: 2015 Green Video Awards

The Green Video Awards (GVA) competition is open to two age groups: Middle School (grades 6-8) and High School (9-12). A panel of teachers, students, parents and members of the Franklin Lakes, Oakland and or Wyckoff Green Team will judge the student films.

Green Video Award contestants will compete for cash prizes in the following categories in both age groups (Middle, and High School):

  • Best video made by an individual
  • Best video made by a group
  • Best FLOW (Franklin Lakes, Oakland Wyckoff) video
  • Best animated video


This competition is open to middle school and high school students living in New Jersey. College student videos are not accepted in this competition. Only Franklin Lakes, Oakland or Wyckoff residents are eligible for the Best FLOW video award. All entries must include your school name. Submissions must be received by May 4, 2015. There is no entry fee.

Video entries can be stories told with photographs, animation, live action, music videos, and documentaries…anything goes. The subject matter is open to your imagination but please…keep it “clean”. Video should be produced as though you expect them to receive a G or PG rating!

Here are a few suggested themes and ideas:

  • Green Public Service Message…Such as “Why We Should Increase Our Recycling.”
  • A How to… Such as “How to Compost Waste at Home.”
  • Documentary Subject…Such as “Where Does our Garbage Go?”
  • Story…Such as “Green ” version of a fairy tale, book, TV show or movie.


Videos can be as short as 30 seconds. Videos longer than 10 minutes will not be accepted. All music used should be fully credited at the end of the film.

The GVA reserves the right to determine eligibility of any work submitted. All submitted materials become property of the GVA and will not be returned. Entrants whose videos are selected for screening at the festival will be notified no later than May 15, 2015. All students with videos screening at the festival will be given a special award.

An Entry must be the original work of the Entrant, may not have been previously published, may not have won previous awards, and must not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity. If an Entry contains any material or elements that are not owned by the Entrant, and/or which are subject to the rights of third parties, the Entrant is responsible for obtaining, prior to submitting such Entry, any and all releases and consents necessary to permit the use and exhibition of the Entry by the GVA in the manner set forth in these Terms, including, without limitation, name and likeness permissions from any person who appears in or is identifiable in the Entry, music licenses and location releases. The GVA reserves the right to request proof of these permissions in a form acceptable to the GVA from any entrant at any time. Failure to provide such proof may, if requested, render Entry null and void. By submitting an Entry, the Entrant warrants and represents that he/she and any persons appearing or who are identifiable in the Entry consent to the submission and use of the Entry in the contest and to its use as otherwise set forth herein.

OWNERSHIP/USE OF SUBMISSIONS: By submitting an Entry, you hereby grant to the GVA a royalty-free, fully paid up, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive and fully sub-licensable right and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, combine with other works, create derivative works from, distribute, perform, edit and display such Entry (in whole or part) including, without limitation, the names and likenesses of any persons or locations embodied therein, and/or to incorporate it in other works in any form, media, or technology now known or later developed. These rights include, without limitation, the right to exhibit the Entry in any and all media including but not limited to the GVA’s and the GVA’s licensee’s social media properties and/or offline media, in perpetuity without compensation, permission or notification to the Entrant or any third party. By submitting an Entry, Entrant acknowledges that the festival has no obligation to use or post any Entry submitted. Subject to these Terms, the Entrant retains copyright ownership of the Entry.
